Helix was founded in 1998 by a group of HR leaders who watched too many strong small businesses stall under the weight of people operations. They believed SMBs deserved the same caliber of HR, benefits, and compliance infrastructure that Fortune 500 companies took for granted — without the overhead.

Twenty-five years and 4,000+ clients later, that founding thesis still drives every decision. We invest in the specialists, the technology, and the group-buying power that make world-class workforce management genuinely accessible to a 12-person shop or a 500-person growth company.

Today, Helix serves clients in all 50 states from offices in New York, Atlanta, and Denver — and remains privately held, entirely focused on the SMB market we were built to serve.

2005

Cross a milestone: 500 clients

Helix crosses 500 clients and expands its benefits pool, unlocking Fortune-500-tier medical plans for the entire client base.

Nationwide footprint

Multi-state payroll and compliance capabilities launch. Helix begins serving clients in all 50 states.

2016

IRS Certification & ESAC accreditation

Helix earns IRS-Certified PEO status and ESAC financial accreditation — credentials only a handful of PEOs in the country hold.

Helix mobile app launches
